Similar to API steel pipe, stainless steel pipe has various types, because the versatile material of stainless steel. What is more, the stainless steel can be used widely, especially in piping and tubing manufacturing. There are some features of stainless steel, including low-maintenance, oxidation resistant, and it has no influence on other metals. The stainless steel pipe can be divided into several types according to the end use of the pipe.

Sometimes, it is difficult for us to classify the pipes and tubes, so we usually distinguish them based on function. Except for this method, we can also use type and grade to distinguish stainless steel. Usually, the stainless steel pipe of type 304 is commonly used, because of its ability of chemical-and-corrosion-resistant. However, if the temperatures fall between 800 and 1640 degrees F, the type 304 stainless steel pipe will be not suitable, because it is prone to carbide precipitation, a result of the material's .08 percent carbon content limit. On the contrary, he type of 304 has no this kind of problem because of lower carbon content limit. So this kind of stainless steel pipe can be used under the circumstances of high temperature. Besides, there are additives among other types, including nickel and molybdenum, and these can be useful for those desirable traits.

The first one is stainless steel pipe for general corrosion-resistance, which is suitable for the applications with corrosion resistance above other traits. Usually, manufacturers produce ferritic or martensitic types of steel to be either heat-treated or annealed. Austenitic stainless steels, which contain high chromium and nickel contents, are similar with ferritic and martensitic types.

The second is stainless steel pressure pipe, which consists of solid chromium or the combination of chromium and nickel. This kind of steel pipe can be divided into several types, for example, seamless and welded pipe, electric fusion welded pipe, large diameter welded pipe, seamless and welded ferritic and austenitic stainless steel pipe and so on.

The next one is stainless steel sanitary pipe, which can be used if the pipe should contact with food and other sensitive products, because of its feature of high ability of corrosion-resistance. Another is stainless steel mechanical pipe, which can be used in cylinders, bearings and other hollow formed parts. This kind has a variety of cross-sectional shapes, including square and rectangular. The last one is stainless steel aircraft pipe, which can withstand high-strength. If seamless and welded pipe in larger sizes is required, we usually choose aircraft stainless steel pipe.
