Tips on How to Cut Welded Steel Pipe

The welded steel pipe can be widely used in many industries, like construction, food, pharmaceutical, automotive industries and so forth for different purposes. The wall thickness of steel pipe is different depending on the diameter of the pipe actually. As we all know that the steel pipe size provided by supplier may not fit for your needs. You need to cut it according to your own requirements. Generally, you can use a simple handsaw to cut a thin-walled steel pipe easily. But a thick pipe may need special tools to be cut.

First of all, you are advised to prepare tools, like workbench, bench vise, rotary pipe cutter, lubricating oil and so forth.

Second, attach the bench vise to the workbench. Use the vise to secure the pipe to the workbench. Before you cutting the pipe, you are advised to mark the spot where you want to cut actually. Allow at least 6 inches of space between the end of the table and the mark to give you enough room to work with the pipe cutter.

Third, you should attach the pipe cutter to the pipe and tighten the handle untile cutting edge touches the pipe. Then you should apply a small amount of oil to the cutting site and tighten the cutter. Rotate the pipe cutter around the pipe several times.

Last, don't forget to add oil and tighten the cutter. Rotate it around the pipe until you cut through the welded steel pipe. You should cut the pipe according to your expected sizes.
